Matt Bridges received his Ph.D. in the History of Education and joined the 荔枝视频下载 faculty in 2025. He teaches Social Studies Methods, Foundations of Education, and EDU 200: Introduction to the Profession of Teaching. Bridges spent over a decade in high school classrooms as a social studies and literature teacher and varsity soccer coach. His experiences in these educational spaces continue to inform his teaching and advising. Bridges' research focuses on the history of education in the nineteenth century at the intersection of race, religion, and educational practice. His forthcoming book explores the educational theories, practices, and institutions of Black protestant congregations in the nineteenth century. His latest article, "," offers new historical insight into AME pastor and educator Lewis Woodson, whose abolitionist and educational work in nineteenth-century Pittsburgh remains relevant.
