As we continue to strive for excellence and rigour in teaching and learning at ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ, there have been some encouraging student academic outcomes for us as a community to celebrate.
The Geography Department is celebrating the success of two of its Senior students in the Australian Geography Competition. Oliver R (Year 12) represented Australia in the iGeo programme in Bangkok, Thailand. The programme involved three academic challenges over the course of a week: a written response test, a multimedia test and a fieldwork exercise. Oliver achieved a Gold Medal at the competition, with the Australian team finishing 9th overall. Henry Pritchard (Year 11) was awarded 1st Place in NSW in the 2025 Australian Geography Competition. As a result of his success, Henry will participate in the Geography Big Week Out in Canberra in September 2025. Both Oliver and Henry continue to demonstrate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ’s success in Geography and congratulations to them both on their achievements.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate Jayden P (Year 11), who earned a prestigious gold medal at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in July on the Sunshine Coast. Jayden was one of six students selected to represent Australia at this elite global competition, which brings together the world’s most talented young mathematicians. With over 630 participants from 110 countries, only 67 gold medals were awarded for exceptional scores of 35 or higher. Australia’s team performed brilliantly, finishing 15th overall, with two gold and two silver medals. Jayden’s gold medal achievement stands as a remarkable testament to his deep mathematical understanding, disciplined preparation, and love for learning. We congratulate Jayden on this outstanding accomplishment and look forward to supporting him as he continues to pursue his academic and mathematical aspirations. Well done, Jayden!
Earlier this year, 35 ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ students joined over 100,000 participants worldwide in sitting the US National Latin Exams. ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ students achieved outstanding results, with 15 earning gold and silver medals. A standout accomplishment came from Jack Baldwin (Year 9) who produced a perfect paper, a wonderful testament to the strength of ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ’s Languages programme.
Elsewhere, the Music Department has been celebrating a number of outstanding student achievements. Among the highlights, Justin Lee (Year 10) was awarded his AmusA with Distinction on Flute, and William Lee (Year 8) earned his AmusA diploma with Distinction on Violin, both remarkable accomplishments.
In addition, we congratulate Austin Xu (Year 11) for achieving a High Distinction in the 2025 Australian Economics Olympiad, an exceptional result in a highly competitive field.
Well done to all of these boys and the staff guiding them!
Mr Andrew Holland,
Deputy Head Academic
