A cold night but warm hearts fundraising for those in need.
The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ community has once again demonstrated the power of collective action, compassion, and leadership through the annual ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ Sleepout.
On a chilly night in June, 270 ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ boys, supported by dedicated parents, staff, and volunteers, participated in the Sleepout. The event was more than just an act of solidarity; it was a powerful opportunity for students to reflect on the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness and hardship. Guided by reflections, stories, and engaging speakers, the boys gained invaluable insights into societal issues, fostering empathy, compassion, and character development through a Christian lens.
This year’s event was nothing short of inspiring, with students, staff, and parents coming together to raise an incredible $87,500 (and counting). This is a record-breaking achievement that will have a lasting impact on Rough Edges and Banksia Women in their vital missions to serve those in need by supporting the employment of a full-time social worker. Special recognition goes to every House and the Prefects for their dedication to fundraising, and to Emery House for their particularly extensive campaign.
Such a meaningful event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our volunteers. We extend an enormous thank you to all staff and parents who helped promote fundraising, walked alongside the boys, facilitated reflective sessions, and supported our guest speakers, and to the many volunteers who braved the challenging conditions to sleep out alongside our students. Your leadership and care as role models and mentors are deeply appreciated, not only by the boys and their families but by the entire ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ community.
Through experiences like the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ Sleepout, our students are not only supporting important causes – they are provided with invaluable opportunities to engage with real-world issues, develop empathy and a sense of social responsibility, and learn the importance of giving back. Service Learning not only enriches their educational experience but also helps shape them into compassionate, thoughtful, and active contributors to society.
